Bethanie Cunnick - Illustator

All illustrations in The Primate Puzzle were provided by Bethanie Cunnick who fully owns the copyright to all illustrations found in the book. Bethanie also designed the front cover of The Primate Puzzle.

Bethanie Cunnick was born in Plymouth, Devon. She moved to Oxford in 1998 when she got a place on the BA Architecture programme at Oxford Brookes University. After graduating, Bethanie started a job as a bookseller and almost three years later she returned to the Architecture department to work as a programme administrator.

The illustrator, Bethanie Cunnick, met Oliver Nash through a mutual friend that she encountered whilst studying at University. Using the design and communication skills learnt during her degree and inspired by the diversity of children’s books when working at a bookshop, she became a freelance illustrator in 2008.

Bethanie is thrilled to be involved in a worthwhile and inspirational project which educates and entertains children on the environmental issues faced by the beautiful country of Borneo, which one day she hopes to be able to visit.

Great Ormond Street Hospital opened its doors on 14th February 1852, with just 10 beds, 2 wards & 20 staff. Today, we have 353 beds, 38 wards & nearly 3000 staff, treating children from throughout the UK and world for a wide range of conditions. Although the basic running costs of the hospital are met by the NHS, the charity needs to raise over £50 million each year to fund, the latest specialist equipment, medical research, redevelopment and family accommodation. We want to ensure the hospital remains a world class specialist paediatric hospital, giving new hope to children suffering from complex and life-threatening conditions
